These adults (former teen gamers) were asked... how did playing games as a teen develop skills that you use today? They replied...

Karen Huseby
Pilates Instructor, Former high school Teacher
"Problem-solving is more than just being able to solve a problem. It's believing there is a solution and not quitting until you figure it out. Games taught me this."

Andy Compton
Business Growth Consultant, Former CFO
"Being able to craft a take-over-your-enemies strategy in a game is, in some ways, the same basic thought process as creating a business strategy."

Bill Strader
Tech Support
Part of being a gamer is learning systems and how to optimize your playthrough. In my job doing tech support I have to learn new systems constantly and quickly develop some proficiency in order to understand their impact on other systems. Gameplay helped me do this.

Lex Than
Gamification Consultant (clients include Google, Microsoft and others)
"Pattern recognition, specifically around how game mechanics are used inside different games, has helped me see various ways to use these mechanics in the workplace in order to make mundane things like onboarding more fun and engaging for my clients."
We Believe That...
The deepest LEARNING happens when concepts and skills are used in context.
Did you know ALL of these skills show up in games?
- STRATEGIC THINKING
- PROBLEM SOLVING
- SYSTEMS ANALYSIS
- RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
- PATIENCE
- PATTERN RECOGNITION
- TOOL SELECTION
... and with low-risk and tons of fun. Add some reflection and these skills are ready to transfer to high school and life.
It's time to capitalize on those hours spent in other worlds.

Jerry Vanderzanden
Challenge Participant - Father of Teen Gamer
"This challenge gave me a better understanding of my son and both how and why he plays video games while also removing the worry that his gameplay is doing more harm than good. Every parent needs to do this, if only to set their mind at ease."

Kathryn Holdforth
Private School Mom of a Freshman Gamer in Jill's program
"It’s evident Jill thoroughly enjoys working with teens and I know both my sons (18 and 14) are totally comfortable talking to her and brainstorming with her on their life’s goals and dreams. As a parent, I can’t recommend Jill highly enough. Not only do I feel like my boys are in very good hands when it comes to figuring out their future I also feel like I’ve gained a friend along the way. Jill is so open, honest and easy going. We’re so happy to have found her!"
DEAR GAMER PARENT
With high school quickly approaching, every parent is asking how to best outfit their 9th grader with the confidence, motivation and study skills to ensure a successful 1st year.
For the gamer parent, who has witnessed their teen care more about games than academics, this prep is even more crucial.
You might be asking yourself, what can I do to get them away from their game and into their studies?
I’m Jill Wolf creator of AGAME CLAN, a teen community, training, and tutoring space for gamers; using game to strengthen the student, engage the player, and honor the personal growth. And I believe there is great hope for your teen gamer.
Instead of asking, “How to get them OUT of their game to do school?” We need to ask, “What are they doing IN their games that has developed valuable life skills? And how do we leverage those skills for high school success?”
Until we unpack the gameplay of our teens, their brilliance remains in the dark.
Therefore, it’s time to shed light into the virtual corners of their gameplay to uncover their strengths, skills, and confidence.
This is why I’ve created the “Everything You Need To Know For High School You Learned Through Gameplay” challenge. This parent and teen Quest uses gameplay to discover the gamer. And in 5-days you will see a shift in your teen from hesitant to willing to engage in school as well as a shift in your own perspective on the value of games.
I invite you to join me for this challenge because…
Everything your teen needs to crush their freshman year, they’ve learned through gaming.
