The other day I was working with a parent who was struggling to get her 16 year old son to integrate history into a project.  A couple of questions revealed his interest in a military career and love of technology.  In a few minutes we planned an incredible investigative project around the influence of weapons technology on the wars and battle strategies of the U.S. over the last 250 years.  He was thrilled. She couldn’t believe the increase in engagement. 

I smiled… because this is my SUPERPOWER.

My junior year in high school we moved 30 minutes away and my parents let me choose whether to drive back to my old school each day or go to a new one. I decided to let go of what was OK to embrace the possibility of something BETTER.  It was one of the BEST decisions I ever made.  

Don’t let the mandates steal your HOPE...
